Netra Tarpana

Netra Tarpana is a traditional Ayurvedic eye-care therapy in which a specially prepared medicated ghee or other suitable preparation is gently retained around the eyes for a prescribed period. The procedure is traditionally used to nourish and soothe the eyes as part of Ayurvedic eye-care practices.

At SA Miracle Health, Netra Tarpana is performed using carefully selected Ayurvedic preparations and traditional techniques, with the procedure adapted according to your individual needs and wellness goals.

Key Benefits

  • Soothes tired eyes: The gentle application can provide a calming and relaxing experience for the eyes.
  • Supports eye comfort: Traditionally used to help maintain comfort in the eyes, particularly when they feel tired or strained.
  • Helps with dryness: The nourishing nature of the preparation may help support comfortable, moisturized eyes.
  • Supports eye nourishment: In Ayurveda, Tarpana is traditionally considered a nourishing therapy for the eyes.
  • Relieves the feeling of eye strain: The treatment can provide a relaxing experience for people who experience tiredness after prolonged visual activity.
  • Promotes relaxation: Keeping the eyes closed during the procedure provides a soothing and restful experience.
  • Traditional Ayurvedic eye care: Netra Tarpana forms part of the traditional Ayurvedic approach to maintaining eye health.

Experience & Aftercare

Before the procedure, the area around the eyes is prepared and a small enclosure is carefully created around each eye. The selected medicated preparation is then gently retained within the enclosure for the prescribed duration. The procedure is performed under the supervision of an Ayurvedic practitioner.

After your session, we recommend:

  • Rest your eyes for a short period after the treatment.
  • Avoid prolonged screen use immediately after the session.
  • Avoid exposure to dust, smoke, and strong wind immediately following treatment.
  • Avoid rubbing or touching your eyes unnecessarily.
  • Follow the specific aftercare instructions provided by your practitioner.
  • Allow your eyes adequate time to relax after the procedure.

Is Netra Tarpana Right for You?

Netra Tarpana may be considered as part of an Ayurvedic eye-care programme for individuals experiencing eye fatigue, dryness, or general eye discomfort. Ayurvedic guidelines also list Tarpana among procedures used in the management of certain ophthalmic conditions.

However, Netra Tarpana is not a substitute for an eye examination or conventional ophthalmic care. If you have sudden vision changes, severe eye pain, significant redness, eye injury, infection, or other acute eye symptoms, seek assessment from a qualified eye-care professional.

Your Ayurvedic practitioner will assess your condition and determine whether Netra Tarpana is appropriate for you.
